Orla Kelly from Dungarvan, Co Kilkenny, was a respected public figure locally and nationally. She owned a design business and appeared on TV, working internationally from Milan and Rome to New York. After returning to Ireland, she became the interiors and DIY expert on RTÉ’s Our House with Ducan Stewart. Her later work included consulting for private homes and destination boutique hotels and rentals such as Tubrid Castle, Butler House, and Zuni Restaurant and Boutique Hotel. She also became involved in politics with Fine Gael, running in the 2019 local elections and serving as chair for the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency. She died at home in Scart, Dungarvan, with her husband Blaise and her daughters Freagh and Morgan.
""Orla was a vibrant and joyful person," read her death notice on RIP.ie. "A designer, an actor, a politician, a presenter, Orla lived life to the full. "She was a master improviser in the kitchen, played a vicious hand at cards, and always braved a wintery swim. She loved people and dogs, but not necessarily in that order. "Her laughter, mischief and determination will be missed by us all.""
