Regal London has submitted an amendment application to Camden Council to redevelop a stalled office block site at Avenue Road and Finchley Road in Swiss Cottage. After taking over from Essential Living, which halted the project post-basement completion, Regal's modified plan retains the existing height of 24 stories but increases housing from 184 to 237 units, with 35% designated as affordable. Concerns arise as homes will be for sale rather than build-to-rent. The project also includes commercial spaces and sustainable design features, aiming to enhance the local community and environment.
"At 100 Avenue Road, we are unlocking a scheme that will bring forward 237 homes, including a significant proportion of affordable housing, in a prime, well-connected location."
"The updated 'sustainable' design will incorporate brick facades 'to better reflect the surrounding area', add stairwells for better fire safety, and will be built with a 'gas-free, net-zero carbon approach.'"
