"Free from the white cubes and glass display cases of traditional exhibition space. Instead, it is a structure that grows directly from the ruins. An open-air Museum built from every discarded brick and tile of the old factory buildings."
"It is an urban public space open to all, a place where people can enter, listen, and share their stories."
The Echo of the Ruins Sound Museum opened in February 2026 in Qingshuitan, revitalizing an abandoned industrial area. Rather than adopting conventional museum design with white walls and glass cases, the structure emerges organically from the existing ruins. The museum is constructed entirely from reclaimed bricks and tiles salvaged from the old factory buildings. It functions as an open-air public space accessible to everyone, designed as a venue where visitors can enter, listen to sounds, and share their personal stories. This approach transforms industrial decay into a participatory cultural destination.
