The Reuse Project exemplifies sustainable architecture through the transformation of an old medical laboratory into a community coffee shop. The new layout incorporates frosted glass blocks and curved walls to manage intense sunlight and create private seating areas. The coffee bar serves as the central focal point, directly linked to the kitchen. Attention was also given to aesthetic details like a terracotta-colored exterior, aligning the structure with local architectural themes while enhancing the visitor experience with visual expansions and welcoming spaces.
The existing structure of the building was formerly a medical laboratory used by a health clinic that is no longer in operation.
The building owner then leased it to a new tenant, who decided to repurpose it with a new function.
We divided the seating area into two parts using frosted glass blocks to create private spaces so that the seating area would not feel overcrowded.
The entire exterior of the building was finished using cement colored in terracotta as a representation of the dominant local color palette.
