Architect behind Serpentine Gallery's annual pavilion is also tackling Bangladesh's museums crisis
Briefly

Marina Tabassum is a pioneering South Asian architect renowned for her design of the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in London. Amid Bangladesh's recent revolution, she has taken on significant roles, including overseeing five museums and establishing a new one focused on civic expression. With Dhaka's population growth from 8 to over 24 million, the city faces severe housing and infrastructure challenges. Tabassum prioritizes sustainable materials in her work, advocating for architecture that positively impacts local communities and their culture.

I'm more interested in architecture that has a certain impact... I prefer to work with materials such as wood, brick and mud, which are abundant locally.
