Ararat House / SJB
Briefly

The renovation project, led by architect Adam Haddow for his parents, revitalizes a 1950s cream brick house in Ararat, Victoria. Focused on longevity and comfort, the design integrates local materials, preserves the home's original structure, and allows for future family expansion. The additions include a 'good room' for living and dining, two bathrooms, and plans for a future rumpus room. This thoughtful approach not only respects the historical significance of the dwelling but also fosters continuity for the family's generations to come.
We performed a series of surgeries on the original dwelling, respecting the embedded carbon and capturing the cultural and familiar history of the place.
The house now accommodates not only my parents but also sets a strategy for future family growth with the potential addition of a rumpus room.
