Studio NiCHE has transformed a historic karrejja in Malta into The Blue Room, a 28-square-meter modern apartment in a 16th-century building. Designed by Martina Fenech Adami, the project emphasizes sustainability by conserving the original limestone structure to reduce carbon footprint. Innovative design elements, such as diagonal flooring and custom joinery, optimize space, ensuring that the apartment feels larger while offering luxury amenities. The design includes a hidden sleeping nook and a multifunctional space for various activities, creating a chic blend of history and contemporary living.
Sustainability starts with what's already there.
It's about opening up perceived volume, not adding square meters.
The diagonal design enhances the flow and functionality of the apartment.
The kitchen features a sleek breakfast bar that overlooks the terrace.
