""He was not only a wonderful friend, but I learned from Geoffrey," Forristal says. "And then when I was still with Lorne, Geoffrey died.""
""I saw a picture of Jean Shrimpton in a Porsche convertible with a big sheepskin coat flung over the seat and thought, I want to do this. I wanted a big life," she says."
Susan Forristal lives in one of six landmarked buildings on East 10th Street that were once part of Stuyvesant Farm. The parlor-level floor-through retains turn-of-the-century architectural details that were restored and paired with a pastiche of furniture and objects from Forristal's former careers. The living room contains George Smith armchairs originally owned by Geoffrey Bennison, and Forristal purchased an Oushak rug and settee at his 1985 estate sale. Forristal arrived in New York in the late 1960s and became a leading model, later pursuing acting, opening a gallery, and launching a design practice in 2000 with notable clients.
