HAGISO Inc. has designed the Twist House in Yanaka, a region rich in history and designated as a quasi-fire prevention district. The design integrates a subtle 10° rotation within a primarily rectilinear exterior, generating triangular voids that offer enhanced lighting, ventilation, and transitional spaces within the home. As one moves through its three levels, the structure expands visually and facilitates a dynamic relationship between indoor and outdoor environments. This innovative approach modernizes urban living while respecting surrounding traditional architecture and contributing to the neighborhood's character.
HAGISO Inc. creatively juxtaposes traditional and modern architecture by introducing a subtly rotated wall in the design of Twist House, enhancing light and spatial dynamics.
The nested twisting wall creates triangular voids, which serve as functional spaces like staircases and balconies, while providing exceptional light and ventilation to the house.
