Old buildings always carry traces of time. PPBakery begins by accepting these traces as its premise rather than erasing them. The project prioritizes decisions about what to add onto existing elements, evaluating the existing structure, materials, and accumulated layers of use. New interventions are considered in relation to the building's material history and functional residues. The approach treats preservation and addition as complementary actions, seeking a balance between conservation of memory and contemporary programmatic needs. The design strategy emphasizes visible layering and respectful integration, allowing past alterations and original fabric to inform new architectural gestures.
