A Bold Paint Makeover Transforms This Bland Kitchen into a "Statement" Space
Briefly

Sam and Phil transformed their outdated kitchen by painting cabinets and upgrading countertops and backsplashes on a budget. They opted for a bold blue color, inspired by '50s and '60s modernist aesthetics, which helped conceal dark appliances. The couple used Microcement for surfaces, making the process affordable and straightforward. By focusing on creative solutions, they achieved a cleaner look while enhancing the kitchen's functionality and storage space, demonstrating how impactful a budget transformation can be with the right choices.
"My aesthetics are inspired by colorful '50s and '60s modernist interiors," Sam says, and his 20-year-old black and tan kitchen that he shares with his partner, Phil, and dog, Pesto, wasn't quite scratching that itch.
After a year-and-a-half of living in our new place, the kitchen always stuck out like a sore thumb. We didn't have the budget to buy a new kitchen with new appliances, so I started thinking about ways to elevate the kitchen on a budget.
I even got matching blue knobs from Etsy! It became so much cleaner, and the appliances completely disappeared.
Instead of buying new countertops plus new tiles for backsplash plus hiring trade to install them, we just went with Microcement - one person, one product, quick and easy!" he explains.
