Indigenous Philosophy, Getty L. Lustila
Briefly

The main goal of developing 'PHIL 2492: Indigenous Philosophy' was to present Indigenous peoples as currently existing, challenging the perception of them as artifacts of a pre-colonial world.
The course emphasizes that Indigenous philosophy is dynamic, continuously evolving to address present-day concerns, contrasting the common portrayal of it as static or abandoned wisdom.
Indigenous philosophy is fundamentally land-based, exploring vital questions regarding ethics and community obligations, which connects philosophical discussions to specific Indigenous contexts.
As one of the few Indigenous philosophy instructors, I felt an obligation to represent Indigenous thought accurately, notably in an academic landscape where such courses are rare.
