To access your creativity, start playing
A fulfilling life depends on understanding personal values, what energizes individuals, and how to connect with self and community. Creative expression is presented as a primary way to access these needs. Many people feel uneasy with terms like creativity or creative practice due to childhood experiences and cultural conditioning. People may picture only certain types of artists, such as painters or gallery-focused creators, which can narrow the meaning of creativity. If a person had a teacher who criticized their drawing, they may internalize the idea that their creativity is wrong or not acceptable. These influences can shape adult perceptions of self and preferred forms of creative expression.
