In 2003, Karsten Heuer and Leanne Allison embarked on a challenging journey across Canada's Yukon to follow the Porcupine caribou herd during their migration to calving grounds in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. As they traversed over a thousand miles of rugged terrain, the couple grew deeply connected to the land and the caribou. Their adventure highlighted the importance of wildlife migration and the potential threats posed by oil development, symbolized by carrying an action figure of President George W. Bush as a protest against environmental degradation.
