Richard Price: I don't like to write, I just don't it's too much anxiety'
Briefly

I signed the contract to write this 17 years ago; if it was a baby, it'd now be applying to college. It took years to capture the nuance of Harlem.
New York City is 1,000 cities. Move five blocks, you're in a different one, so I had to immerse myself in Harlem to authentically portray it.
I was intimidated: I'm a white writer in a time where people are very sensitive to who gets to write the stories of who.
I didn't want to write about Trump or Obama; I aimed to avoid the familiar and focus on the crime aspects that weave diverse stories together.
