The Islamic Arts Biennale, titled 'And All That Is In Between', runs for four months in Jeddah, emphasizing Saudi Arabia's role as the custodian of the Islamic world. Hosted by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation, the exhibition features significant Islamic artefacts, including the sacred Kiswah, for the first time outside Mecca. With aspirations of drawing one million visitors, the setting aims to elevate appreciation for both contemporary and historical Islamic art in a visually immersive environment.
The exhibition comprises contemporary and historical artefacts, housed in the windy microclimate of a disused airport terminal for receiving pilgrims to Mecca and Medina.
The Diriyah Biennale Foundation is hoping to attract one million visitors to the event this year - up from 600,000 from the last edition.
