Barely a month after a controversial Utah law took effect, the state's school board has released its first list of books that will be banned from all public schools.
Thirteen titles reached the threshold for being considered objectionable, with two school districts in the Salt Lake City area leading the efforts to ban these books.
The banned books range from young adult fantasy series like A Court of Thorns and Roses to poetry collections like Milk and Honey, sparking debates on censorship and freedom of expression.
Under the law's terms, all 13 banned books must be removed from public school libraries, and they are not permitted to be sold or given away.
