Writers face challenges in character creation, particularly in envisioning characters that can influence others, achieving a balance between similarities and differences among them, and developing intricate relational dynamics. Based on a formative study with fourteen participants, the need for a new solution became apparent. Constella, an LLM-based multi-agent tool, was created to alleviate these challenges and support writers in the interconnected process of character development within their stories.
Our formative study (N=14) reveals that writers struggle to envision new characters that could influence existing ones, balancing similarities and differences among characters.
