Working with a team significantly older than me made it challenging to earn respect, especially as they often criticized my generation without recognizing my presence.
During a meeting, my coworkers seemed oblivious to the fact that I, a 20-something, was present as they discussed how 'helpless' young people are.
Attempts to bond with my colleagues were often met with discomfort; any mention of my age or world related to it was seen as disrespectful.
Despite the challenges, one older coworker became my ally, treating me with respect and acknowledging my contributions, which made my time there more bearable.
