The world in 2024 will be characterized by a "downward trend in world politics, marked by an increase in geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty," according to the Munich Security Conference (MSC) report. The report, titled "Lose-Lose?", states that everyone is losing out in the current global situation.

According to the MSC survey, migration through war and climate change is now seen as a higher priority than the prospect of an aggressive Russia, with Ukraine's war no longer seen as the biggest threat to security. The survey also revealed that Ukrainians want a complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine, including Crimea, and would like Ukraine to join the EU and NATO quickly.
