Israeli forces struck targets in Sanaa, including an oil facility, a power plant, a presidential palace and an adjacent military complex, according to Israeli and Yemeni sources. Al Masirah reported at least one person killed and five injured in the strikes. The strikes followed Houthi claims of a missile launch toward Israel as part of a campaign to pressure Israel over Gaza. The Israeli military said the strikes were retaliation for repeated Houthi attacks, including surface-to-surface missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. Houthi officials said air defences neutralised most Israeli aircraft and vowed continued support for Gaza while denying Israeli claims of hitting solely military targets.
The Israeli military has bombed the Yemeni capital Sanaa, Israeli and Yemeni officials say, as tensions in the region continue to escalate amid Israel's war on Gaza. The Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah said the attack on Sunday targeted an oil facility and a power plant in Sanaa. Israel said it also targeted a presidential palace in the Yemeni capital as well as an adjacent military complex.
The attacks were carried out in response to repeated attacks by the Houthi terrorist regime against the state of Israel and its citizens, including the launch of surface-to-surface missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles towards the country's territory, the Israeli military said. Al Masirah cited a Houthi military official as saying that the group's air defences were able to neutralise most of the Israeli enemy aircraft participating in the aggression and forced them to leave.
