But it's undeniable that the human rights record in China is extremely problematic. We're talking about people being detained, people being put in concentration camps, people being brainwashed. That has to stop, and anyone who turns a blind eye to this, anywhere in the world, is complicit in it, and they need to understand that. This has to stop.
I think Xi Jinping's ultimate aim is not to alienate the United States. He doesn't want a full-frontal confrontation, certainly not any time soon. He wants to see how the card of 'Made in China 2025' and the tech card will play out for China, and he wants to make sure that it can compete with the United States in that field.
