Iran war: Trump orders shoot to kill on mine-laying boats
"I have ordered the United States Navy to shoot and kill any boat, small boats though they may be...that is putting mines in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. There is to be no hesitation."
"Iran's Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said a full ceasefire could only hold if Washington lifts its blockade of Iranian ports."
"The impasse has effectively shut the crucial Strait of Hormuz, where vessel traffic has all but halted since the war began in late February."
Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz are rising as US President Trump has ordered the Navy to 'shoot and kill' boats laying mines. The US has also seized a vessel accused of smuggling Iranian oil. Iranian leaders have stated that peace talks cannot occur while the US blockade of Iranian ports remains in place. They insist that no delegation will travel to Pakistan until the blockade is lifted, effectively shutting down the crucial Strait of Hormuz.
