France and the U.K. convened numerous countries to address the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil route affected by the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. The initiative aims to restore security for shipping in the strait, which Iran has effectively shut down since February 28. French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized a strictly defensive mission, while British Prime Minister Keir Starmer highlighted the global responsibility to reopen the strait to ensure the flow of energy and trade. Military planning is also underway to support these efforts.
