Archaeologists create map revealing extent of damage to Iran heritage sites
""It doesn't matter what [story] you want to tell-maps help bring it to life, they help you connect to spaces. And it has to be interactive. You have to be able to read, to click.""
""The map provides information on the site's significance, the extent of damage and links to source reports, making it a vital resource for understanding the impact of the strikes on cultural heritage.""
An interactive map has been launched by Iranian archaeologists to geolocate cultural sites in Iran damaged by US-Israeli strikes. The initiative, led by Sepideh Maziar and Mehrnoush Soroush, aims to raise awareness about the loss of cultural heritage. The map currently features 69 entries, with a 70th under verification, relying on open-source information due to limited internet access in Iran. One notable entry is the Sa'dabad Palace complex, which suffered significant damage from a recent strike, with images documenting the destruction available on the map.
