Women's Health Revolution: How Telemedicine Changed the Game
Briefly

Women have historically faced numerous challenges in healthcare, often feeling overlooked in terms of dignity and privacy. Traditional systems have made it difficult for women to discuss sensitive health issues without stigma. However, the COVID-19 pandemic rapidly accelerated the adoption of telemedicine, providing a much-needed alternative that emphasizes convenience and confidentiality. By mid-2021, telemedicine usage globally surged by 38%. This shift not only transformed the patient experience but also highlighted the ongoing barriers women face in accessing healthcare, including logistical challenges and the need for a more tailored approach to women’s health.

From booking GP appointments weeks in advance to sitting in waiting rooms, surrounded by ageing leaflets on menopause and pregnancy complications, it may feel as though time hasn't truly advanced for us.
Telemedicine, in particular, saw a 38 percent increase in usage by mid-2021 globally, as per McKinsey. As a result, what began as an emergency response quickly became a new standard of care. For women, especially, it's been transformative.
