Odessa Jenkins, a notable figure in female tackle football and Women's Football Hall of Fame inductee, is making strides in a male-dominated sport. Frustrated by the lack of opportunities and economic instability for women in football, she founded the Women's National Football Conference in 2019. This for-profit league aims to enhance visibility and pay for female athletes, promoting financial equity and empowering women and girls through football. Starting with 15 teams, the league has since expanded, showcasing Jenkins' commitment to creating sustainable opportunities in the sport.
Ms. Jenkins, a native of what was then known as South-Central Los Angeles, has distinguished herself in the world of female tackle football as a Women's Football Hall of Fame running back.
In 2019 she founded the Women's National Football Conference, W.N.F.C., a for-profit, full-contact women's professional football league whose mission is to foster financial equity for women and girls through the power of football.
