Incoming Black women leaders in the nonprofit sector are encountering obstructive oversight, extreme micromanagement, mistrust, and little support internally, along with misbehavior from funders and other leaders externally. The sector's failure to provide a safe space for growth and mistakes is perpetuating harm and pushing Black women leaders to the brink.
Black women leaders, crucial to the sector, are facing harassment, severe illness, and even death due to mistreatment. Dr. Shauna Knox's call to 'Stop drowning us, and stop making us disappear' highlights the urgent need for the sector to listen, acknowledge, and rectify the injustices faced by Black women leaders.
