Katherine Legge, after 25 years in motorsports, made her NASCAR Cup Series debut but faced significant challenges, finishing 30th at Phoenix Raceway. Despite spinning out twice and struggling during the race, she remained positive about her experience and the learning opportunities it presented. With limited oval experience, Legge learned of her debut opportunity just days before the race and worked closely with her team to make adjustments to the car. Although it was a rough start, her determination to return reflects her resilience and commitment to the sport.
"It was baptism by fire," Legge told Fox Sports. "I think there's a lot of positives to take from it. Obviously, there were mistakes made, but I learned so much."
"I was so loose. I was hanging onto it. We kept making adjustments. We kept making the car way more stable for me."
"Hopefully, I get to come back," Legge said, reflecting on her experience. "At the end there, I think we were relatively quick, so it wasn't bad."
