IBM, in partnership with the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), is launching a cyber skills program for girls aged 12-13. The initiative aims to engage young girls in cybersecurity through the CyberFirst Girls competition, which has seen over 85,000 students participate since its inception in 2017. IBM's involvement aims to address the industry's gender disparity, as women represent only 17% of the UK cyber workforce while skill gaps remain prevalent among businesses.
IBM is delighted to build upon our partnership with the National Cyber Security Centre by supporting the CyberFirst Girls competition with DSIT. This new collaboration is a significant step towards nurturing the next generation of cyber leaders, ensuring a more inclusive and robust industry.
Despite a significant skills gap, a lack of diversity is a persistent challenge in the workforce, with women currently making up just 17% of the UK's cyber workforce.
