Experts are now recommending common baby exercise 'tummy time' for adults: Here's why
Briefly

Social media has popularized the term "tech neck," referring to the painful hunch people develop while using electronic devices. Experts highlight that this posture causes significant neck pain, which is a leading cause of disability. A physical therapist suggests an effective remedy known as 'tummy time'—a technique originally used for infants. By lying on their stomachs, adults can relieve pressure from their neck and back, suggesting that this simple adjustment might alleviate discomfort caused by excessive screen time.
"One of my colleagues and I, we'll look at one another at their desk and say, 'Hey, your tech neck is showing,' said tech worker Lukas Ziemba. "I'm definitely cognizant of smaller aches and pains."
"Someone who's doing seated desk work hunched over, they tend to get a little bit more frequency of pain," said Gina Williams, who is a physical therapist.
"Tummy time definitely is important for the little ones. But, it's also important for us," Williams said. "It's basically getting our bodies on our stomach, so we can take the pressure off of all those back muscles."
