Data from BPAS shows only three convictions for illegal abortions between 1967 and 2022, compared to six prosecutions in the last 18 months alone.
The new statistics come as MPs are set to vote on an amendment to the Criminal Justice Bill that would decriminalize pregnancy terminations in England and Wales.
