Devine Cheese & Wine in San Jose will close at the end of service on Saturday, Aug. 30 after five years of operation. The cafe introduced South Bay diners to an international array of cheeses through creative cafe dishes, cheese boards, tasting events, vintner dinners and wine pairings. Owner and fromage expert Liana Ryan announced the closure with a mix of gratitude and sadness and expressed appreciation for community support. Devine opened in early 2020 at 27 Devine St. near North Second Street and offered dinners, pop-ups and participation in Dine Downtown. The cheese club will pause in September and resume in October, and catering of cheese boards for special events will continue.
Owner and fromage expert Liana Ryan announced the news "with a mix of gratitude and sadness" in her email newsletter. "Over the years, it has been our profound pleasure to share our passion for exceptional cheeses, fine wines and memorable moments with you," she wrote. "Your support has meant the world to us, and we are so grateful for the community you helped us build around our humble shop."
