Puglia
Briefly

Forming the heel of Italy's boot, Puglia - also called Apulia - is an ancient wine region with a history shaped by various conquerors, including Greeks and indigenous Italian traditions. This history influences winemaking, culinary traditions, folklore, and architecture in the region.
Puglia's winemaking dates back to at least the 7th century B.C. with Greek influence. In modern times, the region was known for bulk wine production, but new producers focus on estate-grown wines and indigenous grapes, moving towards sustainability and quality over quantity.
