Most Gen Z prefers drinking at home to going out

A survey found that 66% of Gen Z wine enthusiasts prefer to drink at home rather than in bars or at events. Hanging out with friends topped the list of preferred activities while drinking, with 64% choosing to do so. Additionally, the survey revealed that 72% of wine enthusiasts prefer to drink with friends rather than their partner. The survey also found that 46% of wine enthusiasts enjoy a glass with their meal compared to 37% of respondents with a different alcohol preference.
"Results also showed that those who drink wine would prefer to drink with friends (72%), above their partner (49%)."
The survey found that 48% of wine drinkers drink for the sheer joy of having fun, while 47% drink to relax and unwind. When asked why they don't drink wine, the top reason was not liking the taste. The survey also found that Gen Z is most knowledgeable about vodka and tequila, while fewer respondents feel knowledgeable about still wine and sparkling wine. Lastly, the survey found that only 30% of Gen Z would form an opinion about someone based on their knowledge of wine and only 28% would judge someone based on their choice of drinkware.
"When asked why they don't drink wine, don't like the taste was the top reason (27%), while others reported finding wine menus (15%) or tasting notes (13%) to be confusing or intimidating."
