Hot weather creating challenges for Sonoma Valley grape harvest: 'It's a very challenging time'
Briefly

"It's a very challenging time, you got to stay on it every day, all day," said Steve Ledson, emphasizing the relentless nature of grape harvesting against extreme weather.
"When it gets hot, the grapevine shuts down, so if you get over 92 degrees, it wants to go to sleep," noted Ledson, highlighting the critical temperature threshold for grapevines.
"Heat poses a challenge. We want to get the fruit off the vine before heat can damage the fruit," said Associate Winemaker Justin Schuchardt, stressing the urgency in harvesting.
"Mother Nature is quite the force to contend with... the vintners and growers try to work with Mother Nature, she designates when things are happening," stated Robyn Sebastiani.
