Farm Day Family Winery sits high in the eastern hills of Los Gatos with views of Silicon Valley and the East Bay Hills. The Russell family owns and operates the winery and named it for their habitual day off spent gardening and working outdoors. Mark Russell is a commercial real estate broker and Heather Russell is an elementary schoolteacher. The family purchased the Wagner Road property in 2015 and inherited substantial vineyard infrastructure. The site grows mainly cabernet sauvignon, merlot and sauvignon blanc. The Russells lead vineyard tours, pour wine at the property and at South Bay events, and involve daughters and extended family in web design, label artwork, product making, food preparation and event support. Viticulture on the property was previously managed by Coastal Viticulture and viticulturist Ken Swegles, who later formed Rhizos Viticulture.
