Cardinale du Vin, a European-style cafe and wine bar, has opened in Pico-Robertson. The owners were motivated to open the establishment after their favorite wine bar in Palm Springs closed. The concept of coffee and wine pairing was always part of their business plan, and they aim to create a neighborhood spot with a welcoming atmosphere. The cafe serves beverages from Tectonic and features food from chef Royce Burke. Wines at Cardinale du Vin start at $12 a glass and are carefully selected to offer high-quality flavors at a reasonable price.
The wine bar portion, which debuted on Saturday, January 27, is now open Wednesday to Sunday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.; daytime cafe hours are forthcoming.
The owners of Cardinale du Vin, Jackie Liu and Justin Ngamthonglor, were inspired to open the cafe and wine bar after their favorite wine bar in Palm Springs closed. They had always planned to open a wine bar, but the closure of Dead or Alive Bar gave them the push to make it a reality. The cafe offers a day-to-night concept, with coffee and wine being seen as a natural pairing. The owners want to create a neighborhood spot that feels welcoming to the local community.
We always thought that we would open a wine bar...We both love wine, but we never really thought it was a possibility.
