"It's never too late to start new habits, but it's not uncommon to wish you'd started them sooner. Recently, I asked adults of the BuzzFeed Community to share a habit or routine they do now that they wish they'd started younger, and I'm taking notes. Here are some of the practices these older adults are doing now that have ultimately benefited their health:"
""In terms of friendships, I should have practiced quality over quantity. I bought into the idea that I needed to be part of a 'girl gang' to feel a sense of belonging. I've come to realize that feeling like you belong only comes when you simplify your life and spend time with people who are truly your people." -Anonymous"
Older adults report adopting healthier habits later in life, such as improving diet, choosing sobriety, prioritizing quality friendships, and embracing reading. Some adults grew up without learning nutrition or cooking and now focus on more nutritious meals instead of quick, fast-food options. Several people regret years spent drinking and now celebrate decades of alcohol-free living as transformative. Many found that simplifying social circles and investing in true friends created a stronger sense of belonging than maintaining large groups. Reading is identified as a powerful habit that benefits health and personal growth. Older adults are invited to share habits they wish they'd started sooner.
