Even worse, it can cause self-blame if we don't act in the prescribed ways."

Wellness overload can create stress and feelings of never doing enough, which often lead to self-blame. A streamlined goal of practicing kindness offers a simpler, more achievable approach. Simple acts and words of kindness toward self and others release brain chemicals that boost mood, calm the nervous system, and deepen interpersonal connection. Practical self-directed acts include resting when needed, putting the phone away to enjoy hobbies, using water for relaxation, planning for sleep, and spending time with animals. Small shifts in self-talk foster greater compassion and resilience.
