Meta has announced the launch of Aria Gen 2, the latest version of its augmented reality glasses, which includes significant technological advancements from the first generation released five years ago. The new model features an improved sensor suite, including a PPG sensor for heart rate monitoring and a contact microphone for voice distinction. Additionally, the lightweight glasses can conduct AI tasks such as eye and hand tracking and offer up to eight hours of battery life. The initial deployment will be focused on academic and commercial research labs, with early use in aiding the visually impaired.
