"This fourth and 11 right here I think is the game changer with him," former NFL linebacker Luke Kuechly raved the following day on the "Up & Adams Show." "His ability to just run away from angles - I don't think guys understand how fast he is. ... Obviously, he's great throwing the football, but his ability as a runner is what separates him. ... When he's able to break the pocket and scramble, it's difficult to get him on the ground."
Daniels's dual-threat ability was well documented before Washington drafted him last spring with the second overall pick. He's the only player in FBS history to have 12,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards in his career, which include the 606 yards (372 passing yards, 234 rushing) he collected in a single game, against Florida in 2023.
Make no mistake, Daniels is a pass-first quarterback, capable of throwing a dart between two defenders for Jamison Crowder, or sailing a deep ball to Terry McLaurin in stride. But he happens to also be an extraordinary runner, one who can extend plays, drives, and, like last weekend, keep his team competitive in crucial moments.
