The Washington Commanders have started Phase 3 of their offseason activities (OTAs) in Ashburn, though star players Terry McLaurin, Laremy Tunsil, and Marshon Lattimore are not in attendance. McLaurin's absence has raised speculation about his desire for a new contract, a discussion ongoing with GM Adam Peters. Defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. addressed the media and highlighted player development, particularly praising Jordan Magee's potential contributions and expressing optimism about Quan Martin, indicating he could become a top safety in the league.
Joe Whitt Jr on Jordan Magee: 'We had a package that we wanted to run with him last year, w he (knee) injury we weren't able to, we want to get more three LB pkgs vs nickel to sure up vs the run. He's he's had great call command, and he's learned a lot from Bobby Wagner.'
Whitt said they've been in communication with CB Marshon Lattimore. 'We'll see where he is when he gets here,' Whitt said.
Whitt mentioned Quan Martin, stating he briefly dropped Martin to second-team but noted, 'This kid has the potential to be one of the better safeties in the league.'
