Commanders waive 2023 first-round pick Emmanuel Forbes Jr.
Briefly

Forbes was selected with the 16th pick in 2023 of Mississippi State, largely because of his Football Bowl Subdivision career record of six interceptions returned for touchdowns.
Forbes struggled to create that kind of production in the pros. Last year, he was burned in coverage by Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown in Week 4.
Washington shifted rookie slot cornerback Mike Sainristil to the outside, opposite Benjamin St-Juste, and turned to Noah Igbinoghene inside, showing a lack of confidence in Forbes.
In 20 games with the Commanders, he totaled two interceptions and allowed five touchdowns in coverage, highlighting his struggles in the NFL.
