This electric start not only opens up a world of possibilities in a decidedly shaky NFC East. It also represents a complete about-face in the flow of a Washington NFL season.
In a 17-game season, it is a good start and a good start only. But good starts just don't happen to this franchise. Washington won three of its first four games just once in the previous 15 seasons.
Games weren't a joy. They were a chore. Seasons were built not by stacking wins and gathering confidence, but by slogging to December, hoping against hope a late run might lead to the postseason.
The promise of something better than the past isn't guaranteed. But it's damn sure possible.
