Since Josh Harris acquired the Washington Commanders, the franchise has drastically improved, boasting a commendable rookie quarterback and an NFC championship appearance. This resurgence is reflected in their popularity; a recent poll found that 61% of local sports fans now support the team, up from 45% last year. Additionally, half of the D.C. population now appreciates the Commanders' new name, though there remains a division in sentiment, with some opposition existing. Overall, the Commanders have revitalized interest in the franchise and the local region.
"The Commander brand has taken on some real meaning with the organization, whether it's what [Coach Dan Quinn and General Manager Adam Peters] have done on the football side," team president Mark Clouse said last week during an interview at the Economic Club in downtown Washington.
According to a Washington Post-Schar School poll, 61 percent of D.C.-area sports fans are fans of the Commanders, up from 45 percent of area sports fans a year ago.
