Seahawks exercise 5-year options for WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, CB Devon Witherspoon
The Seattle Seahawks have exercised the fifth-year options for wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and cornerback Devon Witherspoon, ensuring their contracts extend through the next two seasons. Both players are now eligible for long-term extensions after completing their third NFL seasons. Witherspoon's option is valued at approximately $21.2 million, while Smith-Njigba's is around $23.9 million, both fully guaranteed. They are the first players from the 2023 draft to have their options exercised and contributed significantly to the Seahawks' Super Bowl victory last season.
"Smith-Njigba, 24, set career highs in receptions (119), receiving yards (1,793) and touchdown receptions (10) en route to be named a first-team All-Pro."
"Witherspoon, 25, is the Seahawks' No. 1 cornerback and was named a second-team All-Pro last season, during which he had an interception and 72 tackles."
