Metropolitan Police were alerted around 3:22 p.m. to find numerous victims with stab wounds. The suspect, described as being in an altered mental state, initially inflicted harm upon himself and then attacked a female acquaintance. Notably, two good Samaritans who attempted to stop the assault were also stabbed. All people involved were reported to be in stable condition, drawing attention to public safety and intervention protocol.
The Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived at the scene to find "numerous people suffering from stab wounds," highlighting the severity of the incident.
Chief Pamela Smith explained, "While walking down the street, the individual began stabbing himself and then he stabbed a female acquaintance who was also with him."
Smith advised bystanders, "Even though we're grateful for their intervention, we would ask that individuals who see incidents such as this to not intervene."
Despite the violence, all victims are said to be in stable condition, illustrating a potential silver lining amid the chaos.
