The Hershey Bears traded defenseman Dmitry Osipov to the Utica Comets for forward Jace Isley, aiming to provide Osipov with more playing time and depth for their defense.
Head coach Todd Nelson mentioned that the decision was partly made to allow Osipov, who has been with the Bears for over a season, to get more on-ice experience.
Isley, 22, offers the Bears added depth after his previous experience with the Adirondack Thunder, suggesting a potential for growth in Hershey while they manage their roster.
Osipov played a key mentorship role last season for younger players, helping with translation and integration within the Bears, showcasing his importance beyond just performance.
