Alex Ovechkin recorded his first career hat trick on January 13, 2006, against the Anaheim Ducks during his rookie season. The game was scoreless after one period before Ovechkin opened the second by rushing past two defenders and scoring on a backhand, then delivered a memorable hit on Vitaly Vishnevski.
